[0:00] Now, remain seated as we sing them, but just before we do, I'm going to read part of a psalm. It's Psalm 98. Why do we worship the Lord? Because he commands us to.

[0:12] His word tells us it's the right thing. Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvellous things. His right hand and his only arm have worked salvation for him.

[0:24] The Lord has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations. He's remembered his love and his faithfulness to Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

[0:39] Trust that each one of us this morning is able to say, the Lord has done marvellous things for me. He has brought me into that relationship with himself, the forgiveness of sins, the surety of eternal life.

[0:54] And on this Whits Sunday, this Pentecost Sunday, we rejoice in the giving of his Holy Spirit, who, without him, we can do nothing. Without him, we cannot even move a millimetre towards God.

[1:06] But in his grace, he has saved us and made us new creations. And so we come to praise the Lord. Remain seated as we sing our first hymn. We praise thee, O God, for the Son of thy love.

[1:18] It's the first song on your sheet, songs before the service. We praise thee, O God, for the Son of thy love.

[1:45] For Jesus, who I am, is now gone above. Alleluia, thine the glory, alleluia, we sing.

[1:59] Alleluia, thine the glory, our praise now we bring. O glory and praise to the Lamb that was slain, Who has born of our saints and has ventred we stay.

[2:24] Alleluia, thine the glory, alleluia, we sing. Alleluia, thine the glory, our praise now we bring.

[2:39] Alleluia, thine the glory, our praise now we bring.

[3:09] Christ is Daniel. It's called and free. Alleluia, freedom, our praise now we bring. He has found my heart twice, and we deliver the land of grace.

[3:22] Alleluia, thine the glory, our praise now we bring. God restores my soul.

[3:35] Praise of love that paid my ransom. For some cost will make me whole.

[3:45] For some cost will make me whole.

[4:15] For some cost will make me whole.

[4:45] For some cost will make me whole.

[5:15] For one day I'll see your place. And forever I'll adore you. In your everlasting praise.

[5:31] In your everlasting praise. In your everlasting praise. In your everlasting praise.

[5:45] Amen. Amen.

[6:45] Amen. Amen.

[7:45] Amen. Today is Pentecost Sunday, the day that we remember the pouring of God, the Holy Spirit upon those disciples.

[8:15] And Luke gives us the account of what happened on that day. The apostles were gathered together in the upper room, we're told.

[8:26] Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.

[8:38] All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them. What happened, of course, is that Peter, along with the others, stood up before the crowds of thousands and began to preach.

[8:55] And what did they preach? Listen to this. Jesus of Nathars was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.

[9:10] This man was handed over to you by God's deliberate plan and foreknowledge. You put him, and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.

[9:20] But God raised him from the dead. We are here this morning because of a risen, glorified Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.

[9:31] Our first hymn is a hymn of praise to him, Jesus, the name high over all. This time we'll stand as we sing to worship and to praise Jesus our Saviour.

[9:44] Let's stand and sing. Let's stand and sing.

[10:20] Let's stand and sing.

[10:50] Let's stand and sing. Let's stand and sing. Let's stand and sing.

[11:02] Come to heaven. Now he breathed my greatest breath.

[11:18] I gave a cast his name. Preach him to all I'm crying dead.

[11:30] Behold, behold the land. Behold, behold the land.

[11:45] It is because Jesus is ascended on high and at the Father's right hand that we have this wonderful entrance into the very presence of God.

[11:59] We can draw near to him and he welcomes us as we come to him, not only with our praises, but with our prayers. So let us pray together now. Let us all pray. How amazing it is to us, oh gracious and glorious God, that we are able to sing your praises, that we are able to draw near to you, that we are able to know you and be able to call you our Father.

[12:27] Lord, this is an immense privilege which, Lord, blows our minds. We cannot fully comprehend how it's possible that you, the God, the God, the only God, the true God, the living God, the God who has been from everlasting and will be to everlasting, the God who has no beginning nor no end, the God who has no limit for your infinite in love and power and strength and in wisdom and knowledge.

[12:53] Oh, Lord, you, the holy God, are our Father. And we are your children. Lord, we know and we confess even this morning readily and freely that we are sinful people, a failing people, a people with all sorts of problems, all sorts of difficulties, all sorts of things about us that are unlovely and unpleasant.

[13:19] Lord, our hearts are filled with pride and selfishness. We see in our world around about us how humanity has sunk to the furthest depths. And yet, Lord, in your great love and mercy, you have not washed your hands of us or cast us to one side, but you have sent and given of your own love your Son, your one true and only Son, who himself is from everlasting to everlasting, who himself is God in nature, in person.

[13:50] We thank you for Jesus that he came. He came to save. He came to rescue. He came to restore what was broken and that which we could never fix or mend ourselves.

[14:04] We thank you that in his perfect life, in his sacrificial death, in his glorious resurrection from the dead, he has done everything to make us the children of God.

[14:16] We thank you that he has paid for all our sin with his precious blood. We thank you, O Lord, that there is no longer one sin outstanding against any of your people.

[14:28] We are fully and eternally forgiven because the price has been paid in full. And we thank you, O Lord, that we know that we are heaven bound, that we have a home with you for eternity because he has conquered death.

[14:44] It has no power over us. It holds no fear against us. For we know, O Lord, that you live and we shall live because we are one with you. How did this happen?

[14:56] How could we have been made one with the living God except by him who is the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, who has come into our hearts and lives and raised us from death and given us sight and given us, O Lord, life and faith and repentance, who has united us to Jesus with an unbreakable bond of power.

[15:19] For there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God in Christ, not in heaven or earth or hell. There is nothing, O Lord, that can prevent you from bringing us into the fullness of the inheritance of the saints.

[15:34] We thank you, O Lord, our God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, that you are our Savior. And this morning we come to bring you our praise and our thanks.

[15:44] We come, O Lord, to lift high your name. We come, O Lord, again to draw near to you. And we know that it is your great desire and delight to draw near to us.

[15:55] Come amongst us, we pray, by your Holy Spirit, especially we ask. Bring that life to those that are still yet dead. Bring that sight to those who are still yet blind.

[16:07] Bring that healing touch, O Lord, to those who are still in sickness and disease. Bring, O Lord, your grace to work in this place that Jesus, the Son, God, the Father, and the Holy Spirit may be given praise and glory that we may go from this place in a little while rejoicing in the salvation of God.

[16:31] Hear us then as we bring our prayers to you all in and through Jesus. The name high over all. Amen. Amen. It is such a great delight to welcome each of you here this morning and I trust that already you've been greatly blessed over the weekend with the Whitby Gospel Music Convention.

[16:52] It's always a joy for us as a church to have such a wonderful group with us each year and we thank Paul for coming and sharing with us and he's also, each year brings, well, he brings sort of a blessing and a not so blessing because there's two sort of folk who tend to always be here.

[17:14] One is a singing group which are the blessing and they're going to come in just a moment. They are the New Dawn or New Dawn from Northern Ireland and they're going to come and sing to us. The other side of the coin is Roger Carswell and what can we say?

[17:32] For a man who's so busy globetrotting and all over the country, he always seems to make time to be here and we always hope he's just too busy but he's never as busy enough to not be able to come.

[17:44] We love having you here. Yeah, it's good to be here. He knows that I like to pull his leg so no doubt he'll get his own back in a bit but we're going to ask New Dawn now please to come and they're going to come and sing to us.

[17:56] Could I just say something about New Dawn? Do you mind? You can, you can. Do come up guys. We had a lovely moment. We're staying in the same bed and breakfast and yesterday, well, most of them came down.

[18:07] One of them finds it very hard to get out of bed, don't we? Anyway, but he manages to fill himself up despite that. Anyway, so there was quite a lot of banter in the dining room.

[18:21] We had some folk from Barnsley and anyway, they were real Barnsley people but we got talking over them, didn't we? And eventually, we arranged that this morning, these guys would sing to all the guests in the dining room and at first, I thought we were going to lose them, did you?

[18:37] But anyway, they came back and then the landlord and landlady and waitress, they came and there were some others as well who were trapped. I don't think they wanted to stay. But they sang and do you know, this time they got the right note.

[18:54] Amazing. Well, they haven't done all weekend according. But it was gorgeous, it wasn't it? And they really were stunned by it and then we gave them all a gospel tract.

[19:05] Did you stay talking to them a bit more then? Yeah, wonderful. It was just a choice, precious moment of sharing the gospel, wasn't it? So, anyway, if you can be as good as you were this morning and better than you were yesterday, it would be good.

[19:17] I'm sorry, See how fast you do your own turn. Gentle Shepherd, do not leave me.

[20:09] I need your eyes to help me find my way. Gentle Shepherd, do not leave me.

[20:29] I need your feet that I may never stray. In your pasture there is manna for my hungry, thirsty soul.

[20:54] There is refuse and tender mercy. There is love like I have never known.

[21:12] If I wander from your pasture, Lord lead me back into the fold.

[21:30] Gentle Shepherd, gentle Shepherd, great provider for everything.

[21:43] Dear, dear to my soul. In your pasture there is manna for my hungry, thirsty soul.

[22:06] And there is refuge and tender mercy. There is love like I have never known.

[22:25] In your pasture there is manna for my hungry, thirsty soul.

[22:42] There is love like I have never known. There is refuge and tender mercy.

[22:55] There is love like I have never known. There is refuge and tender mercy.

[23:10] There is refuge inría. There is refuge and tender mercy inき the hell. There is healing and tendercoin. There is some love like I have never known.

[23:21] There is love like I have never known. And there is repentance, tender mercy inพ collective, Thank you.

[24:09] Out of my bondage sorrow and night, Jesus I call, Jesus I call, into thy freedom, gladness and light.

[24:35] Jesus I come to thee. Out of my sickness into thy wealth.

[24:53] Out of my want and into thy wealth. Out of my sin and into thyself.

[25:11] Jesus I come to thee. Out of my shameful failure and loss.

[25:29] Jesus I come. Jesus I come. Into the glorious gain of thy cross.

[25:46] Jesus I come to thee. Out of my sin and into thy power.

[26:04] Out of life storm and into thy camp. Out of distress to jubilant sand.

[26:22] Jesus I come to thee. Out of是我 Lord. Out of my free blemings. Out of my soul.

[26:37] For they all fall.

[26:51] To thy blessed will to abide, Jesus, I call to thee.

[27:07] Out of myself to dwell in thy love, Out of despair into raptures above, Upward foray on wings like a dove, Jesus, I come to thee.

[27:46] Out of the fear and dread of the doom, Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come, Into the joy and pleasure thy known, Jesus, I come to thee.

[28:28] Out of the depths of ruin untold, Into the flood thy love doth enfold, Ever thy glorious face to behold, Jesus, I come to thee.

[29:01] Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come to thee.

[29:27] You... Thank you.

[30:27] Thank you.

[30:57] Thank you. Thank you.
