[0:00] That's lovely Poppy, thank you very much. That's super. Right, now we're going to have something up on the screen for a little while, just to start us going.

[0:14] Now, the best bit about Christmas is something that we've got to unwrap, because Christmas is wrapped up with all sorts of extra things, things that cover up the real present, the real gift of Christmas, and what it's all about.

[0:31] And so inside this Christmas present I've wrapped up here is the very heart of Christmas. And so we're going to unwrap it bit by bit.

[0:42] And to do that, we're going to have a bit of a quiz, as it were, about Christmas things, about things that are extra to Christmas, but things that we have at Christmas, okay?

[0:52] And it's a bit of a multiple choice, so I'll bring it up for you. Over Christmas, the UK eats how many turkeys each year, all right? How many turkeys in the UK are eating each year?

[1:04] So there's going to be four answers, four possible answers. 50 million, okay? 5 million, 25 million, or 10 million?

[1:15] Okay, so let's see. If you think it's 50 million, put your hand up. Anybody think it's 50 million? Okay, possibly. Anybody think it's 5 million? Put your hand up. Okay.

[1:28] 25 million. Put your hands up. Oh, there's quite a lot there. Yeah, quite a lot there. What about 10 million? I think it's less, probably. Probably just a slightly less.

[1:38] So most people think 25 million. The answer is... Oops. No, the answer is... No, we shouldn't do that. Anyway, it's 10 million. It should leap out of the screen. 3D effect there. But don't worry about it.

[1:49] It's 10 million, that's the answer. 10 million turkeys are eaten in the UK every Christmas. Okay, so let's take a piece of the wrapping off.

[2:00] Because underneath, you're going to see that there is a verse from the Bible, which tells us what's Christmas all about. What is the truth about Christmas?

[2:10] Okay, so that's the first piece of the wrapping taken off. Let's try again. Next one. How much sticky tape is used to wrap presents in the UK each year? Okay, this is...

[2:21] I'm sorry, but this is all in metrics. It's all in kilometres. Okay? Not metres, kilometres. 102,000 kilometres.

[2:36] Sorry. No, 10,200 kilometres. 22,450 kilometres. 369,000 kilometres.

[2:47] Or 500,000 kilometres. Okay? Just to make it simpler for you, a kilometre is five-eighths a mile. Okay? So you should be able to work that out.

[2:57] All right. Okay, let's do the same again. How many people think it's 10,200 kilometres? If you hand up, I think it's that many. Okay. How many people think it's 22,450?

[3:09] All right. Who thinks it's 369,000 kilometres of sellotape? Or, sorry, sticky tape. Can't use that word, sellotape. And who thinks 500,000?

[3:20] Half a million kilometres. Let's see if it works. No, it doesn't work. Okay, it's that one. 369,000 kilometres of sticky tape. How do I know?

[3:33] I don't know. Wikipedia, what do you think? It's, you know. If you had it not the ones I did, it would be half a million. Yeah, yeah. Of course, that's got to include men wrapping when they use three times as much because they get it all over the place and that's the problem.

[3:49] So it would be a lot less if it was just ladies doing the wrapping. Okay, so let's take another piece of our wrapping paper off. Okay, so we've got the beginning. Here is a trustworthy something, deserves full something.

[4:01] Jesus came into that. Okay, so we're going to do the last piece of our wrapping. How many lights are on the Christmas tree that stands in Trafalgar Square? Okay, that's probably one of the biggest Christmas trees given to us by Norway every year because of our friendship from the war.

[4:19] How many lights? Let's see. Okay, we've got 450, 612, 198, 276.

[4:30] So no big, big numbers close together. So it might be a bit more difficult. Who thinks 450 lights? Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square. That's quite a good number. Who thinks 612?

[4:42] Ooh, yeah. 198? Nah, a bit stingy, isn't it really? 276? One or two? Okay, well, I think most of you got that right.

[4:54] 612 Christmas lights. Okay, some of you probably got twice that amount on your Christmas trees, I imagine. So that's just a bit of a quiz. Let's take away the last piece of the wrapping of our Christmas present to show us what really is at the heart of Christmas.

[5:13] And it's a verse from the Bible. It's from the New Testament. It says this, Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance. Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst.

[5:31] So this part tells us there's something trustworthy, something true that it's telling us about Christmas. Okay? The truth about Christmas. And we get lots of stories, Christmas stories, Christmas myths, Christmas legends, and so on that surround Christmas.

[5:50] But this is something that is absolutely true. And more than that, it's something that deserves full acceptance. It's something that we should all know. We should all know. It's something we should all believe.

[6:03] And it's about this person, Christ Jesus. Christ Jesus. We've been listening to the readings about him, about his birth, what we celebrate, of course, at Christmas.

[6:15] So it's something that's true about Jesus Christ, about his birth, the reason that he was born. And we're going to unpack that a little bit in a few moments' time after our next carol in a little while.

[6:28] Okay? So we're going to sing again and then we're going to come back to that and have a few more thoughts about what that means for us this Christmas. Hark! The Herald Angels Sing Glory to the New Born King.

[6:41] Number 206. The Herald Angels Sing Hark!

[6:56] The Herald Angels Sing Glory to the New Born King.

[7:14] The Herald Angels Sing Hark! The Herald Angels Sing Hark! The Herald Angels Sing Hark! The Herald Angels Sing Hark! The Herald Angels Sing Hark!

[7:25] The Herald Angels Sing Hark! The Herald Angels Sing Hark! The Herald Angels Sing Hark! THE Herald Angels Sing Hark!

[7:37] The Herald Angels Sing and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing Thank you.

[8:20] Thank you.

[8:50] Thank you. Thank you.

[9:50] Thank you. Thank you.

[10:22] Thank you.

[11:20] When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.

[12:24] On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshipped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.

[12:40] And, having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route. Thanks, Sally.

[12:50] Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Jesus, our Savior, was born to redeem.

[13:06] He came from heaven to dwell here on earth. Thank you. Thank you.

[13:17] Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

[13:29] Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. My name's John. Thank you. The God is suffering which he would endure In sense for priesthood and his holiness Each gift a symbol of his life so pure As he remembered the time of his birth We too can worship, O Savior and Lord We too can offer an offer of our heart Living to serve him Lord Jesus our King

[14:38] Thank you
